Bonds’ balls are going to auction: The home run balls number 755 and 756 are going to be auctioned with the latter expecting to fetch about a half a million dollars. The guy with 756, a 21 year old, said he’d like to keep it, but he’d be taxed just for holding it. What a great country we live in.

YouTube introducing overlay ads: You knew it was coming at some point, right? The ads won’t appear before the videos however; they’ll be semitransparent at the bottom of the clip. An interesting concept at least.

The richest Presidential candidate: Apparently Mitt Romney is loaded. His wealth is estimated at between $195 million and $387 million. Also interesting, he has pledged to waive the $400,000 presidential salary if elected as he did when he was the governor of Massachusetts. It won’t fix the national debt, but it’s a good showing.

A figure has now been put on the cost of raising children. Apparently the average is about $290,000 over 17 years. Obviously, your actual situation will vary widely since there are those that skew the average (private school tuition). Whatever your thoughts on this are, you’re probably at least glad that your parents weren’t deterred by this.

Here’s more proof that people will buy almost anything. A smudge of driveway sealant was sold for more than $1500 on eBay. A contractor will remove the section of concrete with the smudge in order to ship it. Simply astonishing.

It was just another day at the auto parts store in Dekalb, Illinois until a Monster Truck ripped into a crowd of spectators. Fortunately no one was seriously injured, but it just goes to show… I don’t know what it shows, but it was an interesting story.

It’s official now… Barry Bonds now hold the record for the most home runs. Last night he hit number 756 to pass Hank Aaron and become number one on the all-time home run list. While many have varying opinions of the slugger and his record, it’s still a great accomplishment. So, take it for what it’s worth.

Apparently there is a new “richest man in the world” these days in Carlos Slim. He’s a Mexico billionaire that has amassed a $59 billion fortune. Many attribute it to the apparent monopolies he’s running, but either way, the guy’s rich.

McDonald’s, or MacDo as I call it, has also been making headlines recently. Earlier this week they announced that they’re selling off Boston Market which serves chicken and sides. More interesting though is the recent study that was done showing that kids prefer food in McDonald’s packaging. They basically gave kids the same exact food wrapped either in McDonald’s packaging or in ordinary packaging. Interesting result, but you have to wonder if this type of result would only happen with kids.
