Whether for business or pleasure, at some point you may need to rent a car. This is especially true if you’d rather fly than drive long distances in your own car. And contrary to what you might think, renting a car may not be as expensive as you might think.

So as another option to choose from when looking for a car rental, check out Advantage which is linked to here. You select everything online from the pick-up and drop-off time to the kind of car that you want. I did a quick search for a rental and found the prices to be quite reasonable as well. So if you’re looking to rent a car in the future, see if Advantage might be the best option for you.

Back From Dallas…

So I’m finally back home again after our trip to Dallas. Like I thought, I didn’t really have much time to post here for which I apologize, but now that I’m home it’ll get back to normal again. I had a lot of fun over the past couple of days, the most fulfilling part of which was merely the fact that I didn’t have to go into work. It’s amazing how I don’t have to do anything that exciting, and it’s still great.

Of course I did manage to do a couple things that were fun. We went and saw a Texas Rangers baseball game, which if you’ve been a long time reader you know I’m a huge baseball fan, and they actually won making it that much better. Of course the experience was improved by the half price tickets and the one dollar two liters that we took in with us so as not to have to buy the expensive concessions at the game.

Currently however, I have to go run an errand so I’ll have to continue the update on my so-called travels a little bit later. So stay tuned for more details…

I’ve run across another informational website that talks all about Money and is based in the UK. The site’s goal is to help you save and make money by presenting you with great financial information so that you’re more informed about the financial decisions that you make. Even though you can’t ever know it all, it can’t ever hurt to try and inform yourself as much as possible about some of the things you need to make decisions about. And they cover many different topics so you can find information that you’re looking for about whatever concerns you at the time.

One of the sections of the website covers a lot of things about Credit Cards. You can find credit card comparison tables which detail such information as balance transfer rates and durations as well as the card’s typical interest rate. You can then get a quote. They also have an extensive list of credit card articles that you can browse through. For example, one of their articles is entitled Cost of Credit Card Debt Soars and talks about the cost of them increasing since the introduction of default charge capping. Another one shouldn’t surprise anyone since it’s called 1 in 10 Overspending on Credit Cards.

Another large section of the site deals with all sorts of insurance. You can get quotes on and comparisons about car insurance, home insurance, pet insurance, travel insurance, and even van and motorbike insurance. There is also a section of the latest insurance news as well as some of their most popular insurance articles. One of these more popular articles is about how to get cheaper car insurance rates, something that we could all probably use.

Aside from these sections, there are sections about savings, loans, mortgages, broadband, and even utilities. You can also look into what they have about debt and investments. There’s an article called The Credit Crunch – Is the Worst Over as well as another article about investments in art and antiques. So with all this information you may want to keep tabs on it by subscribing to one of the many RSS feeds that they offer. Otherwise you can just visit the site and browse around to see what interests you. Everyone will probably find some sections more interesting to them than others, but that’s why it’s nice that there are so many articles about so many different topics.

In Dallas for a Week

I wasn’t able to post anything yesterday since I spent most of the day driving down to Dallas. It wasn’t all that bad of a drive, but it did take just under ten hours. We’ll be here in Dallas until next Tuesday when we make the drive all the way back to St Louis. I’ll try to post updates as often as possible, but we’ll have to see how that goes.

I do want to make you aware of a new store I just found out about today. We went to a place called Steve & Barry’s this morning, and it’s a clothing store where everything is priced at $8.98 or less. All the shirts, jeans, shoes and accessories…, everything. It’s an interesting place to say the least with a nice pricing concept, so if you’ve got one of these in your area you might want to check it out the next time you’re looking for some new clothes.

Anyway, I’ll keep you updated as soon as I can get another chance.

Even with everything that is going on in the mortgage and real estate industry, access to credit sources hasn’t completely dried up. And depending on your personal financial situation it may still benefit you to look into various credit opportunities. With interest rates still being low, you may want to look into a refinance either to lower your current rate or to fix an adjustable rate. You also might want to look into a Home Equity Loan in order to consolidate other higher rate debts.

You can check out CountryWideCredit.com and find various guides and other information about these types of loans. You can also find information about other related financial topics on the site including information about what goes into your credit score. Check out the site if you’re looking for ways to reduce and eliminate your debt and improve your overall financial situation.

I read an interesting article the other day about Jose Canseco having his home foreclosed. He walked away from his $2.5 million dollar home which is 7,300 square feet because it didn’t make sense to continue making payments.

This is just another instance that reminds us that it doesn’t matter how much you make. Whether you earn millions of dollars per year like Jose Canseco, or you just seem to be scraping by, you need to learn how to manage your money and the resources you have.

When thinking about your finances, so much thought is usually put into earning more money and reducing your expenses so that you can save and invest more. This is definitely an important part of your financial plan, but you don’t want to neglect some of the other aspects that may typically be given less thought.

One of these is to make sure that you’re protected from identity theft. There are simple steps that you can take in order to protect yourself such as always shredding anything that has your personal information on it and being careful about whom you give out your information to. In addition to this you can have your credit monitored and many other things. Or if you’d prefer, you can have a company like lifelock take care of many of these things for you so you don’t have to think about it all the time.
