No Expense Is Fixed

Not everyone begins thinking about their finances at an early age. Depending on when you begin to take your financial situation seriously, the circumstances you face can vary wildly. For those who have lived a life of boundless consumerism, you may have a steep mountain of debt to climb and overcome. Others may not have much debt, but haven’t saved a thing for retirement. Whatever situation you find yourself in, remember that no expense is fixed.

You can’t fall into the trap that so many do and tell yourself that you can’t change your circumstances. Have you ever heard people saying that they’re struggling to pay their bills? It would seem that making more money would solve the problem, but interestingly it rarely does.

If you’re struggling to pay your bills, maybe you should take a look at the bills you’re paying and get out of the mindset that these bills can’t change. Cars can be sold so that a more affordable alternative may be purchased. Is cable or satellite TV really necessary? Is it possible that you could survive with a slightly less feature rich cell phone plan?

You can even do something about your mortgage or rent payment. Homes can be bought and sold. Mortgages can be refinanced. You can find places that charge cheaper rent. You just need to realize that there are other options out there other than your current situation.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t explore ways to increase your income, but it’s not the only way to improve your financial situation. Take a look at your expenses, and know that none of them are “fixed”.
